About Red Horse

Meet The Maker

Red Horse Knife Works was founded by Edward Kim, a martial artist and former private security contractor. His background includes 15 years of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai as well as being a former MMA competitor. He also had a career in the security industry before he began making knives part-time. Using his design experience, he received extensive positive feedback from law enforcement and the military and then made the decision to make the knives widely available to the public. 

Custom Knife Features

When it comes to creating a custom knife, Red Horse is an expert. They include hand ground blades - meaning each blade is still ground, fitted, and finished by hand. Their hand finished handles are produced using water jet technology to create the basic shape, then finished by hand to ensure the highest quality. Each clip mounted to the handle is also handmade. To ensure the best product possible, every knife is made to very high tolerances to prevent premature wear and tear. 

Quality Construction

All Red Horse knives feature stainless steel bearing actions with a stainless steel cage. This ensures a smooth open action and ease of cleaning. They only use the highest end action available! The titanium used is unmated in weight to strength ratio, and is resistent to corrosion. Red Horse knives uses 6Al4V (grade 5) titanium for liners, frames, and bolsters. Their liner lock knives use .100 thick liners, a step up from the .060 industry standard. Frame-lock type knives use .187 thick titanium scales.

Red Horse truly believe that the devil is in the details, and they pay close attention to every detail to make sure you receive the most reliable knife possible. From carbonizing their lock faces to insure against premature lock failure, to utilizing ceramic detente balls for the smoothest action, there is not a single aspect that they overlook. Each knife includes a guarantee against manufacturer defects with regular usage. They also offer free life time sharpening!
