    Recon Elite...

Posted by Mark Clement on Mar 23rd 2024

It's basically a fancy recon 040. It comes with a really nice pelican case and medallion inside. It's like someone decided to do a recon 040 tribute series to American Servicemen and first responders. The YouTube reviews are pretty well spot on. That actuator button slides smooth. In some ways reminds me of a custom pistol trigger. Super smooth pull until it gets to that breaking point followed by a nice , crisp, firing of the blade. With the graphics and all, it's almost too pretty to use. I'd feel guilty for scratching it up in duty as opposed to a recon 040. The blade is different from the 040... It's like Guardian Tactical looked at Microtech from across the card table and said, we see your Hellhound and raise you with an Elite.. The favorable YouTube reviews that I saw were pretty much what my experience was. Crisp, smooth, strong action. Robust, sharp , strong blade. Feels good in the hand when using it, no notable hot spots when gripping the knife in prolonged use It's almost a fidgety knife, but eventually the thumb gets tired. I stopped counting past 20 reps. Idk how many times I've fired the blade up. Not a single misfire. I'm relatively new to OTF knives. I own the Kershaw Livewire ( which is a fantastic gentleman's carry EDC and then some) a couple of Microtech Ultratechs and a Gen3 Combat Troodone, a Benchmade Autocrat and Infidel. They're ALL GREAT KNIVES for what their intended purpose is... But... When I hold the Elite 40, I think to myself, "this is how an OTF should really be.".
