The Microtech Combat Troodon OTF automatic knife is named after the Troodon dinosaur and is the larger version of the Troodon OTF knife which debuted in 2006. The Combat Troodon is one of the largest double action OTF production knives available with an overall length of 9.5 inches. The Microtech Combat Troodon features a 3.8" stainless steel double edge dagger style blade. The 5.75" handle is anodized aluminum and features a bead blast finish hardware, glass breaker and pocket clip. Yes this is a larger OTF knife but it feels great in the hand thanks to the jimping in the handle. The aluminum handle features a double action thumb slide that allows for super fast automatic blade deployment and retraction with the push of your thumb. See it in action below:

I was very pleased when I inspected the quality of the Microtech knife in function, appearance, and materials !!! Im not new to knives but I am newer to OTF knives. I am completely bewildered as to why OTF knives were ever illegal at any point in history. In my short time spent with Microtech and Benchmade OTFs I can say they are THE SAFEST knives I have ever used as they do not require you to manipulate the blade in any way shape or form and you can instantly retract the blade to make the knife safe again. Folders require so much more extra dexterity and care when closing and most of the time your fingers are in the direct line of fire of the blade when beginning the unlocking and folding procedure of folding knives. I highly doubt I will ever return to the use of folding knives. If you can afford an OTF knife I believe they are worth it just based on the principle of safety alone. Side note: I did get a huge laugh with my wife about you guys including candy and bandaids in the knife package!!
