The late William F. Moran Jr., better known as Bill Moran, was a legend in the knifemaking community. The founder of the American Bladesmith Society (ABS), he was also instrumental in the rediscovery of hand-forged Damascus steel. In 1995, Spyderco was honored to collaborate with him on our first fixed-blade knife, an expression of his “Featherlight” pattern. To commemorate the 30th anniversary of this model and what would have been Bill’s 100th birthday, we are proud to introduce a stunning Sprint Run version of the Moran Upswept. Its full-flat-ground blade is crafted from Damasteel’s “Dense Twist™” DS93X™ Martensitic Damascus Patterned Steel. This remarkable material consists of two different hardenable knife steels expertly forged to offer superior strength, outstanding edge retention, excellent corrosion resistance, and a breathtaking Damascus pattern. The blade is paired with a fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle injection molded in a distinctive gray color and inlaid with black Kraton® rubber panels to ensure a secure, non-slip grip. As an extra touch of class, this limited-edition knife comes complete with a beautifully crafted genuine leather sheath. A fitting tribute to a true cutlery icon, this incredible knife is sure to be a coveted collector’s item.
