Many of our customers love to flick their knives open (and close and open an close and open). Our Nerd takes lots of practice to become an expert! Kevin Wells (FB Group expert and YouTuber) suggested we turn our machined oval into a cutout. Well, here she comes. The placement of the oval has changed for ease of opening - chamfered edges of course.
Every TRM knife is not for everybody. TRM takes customer requests very seriously. Our NERD linerlock fills the need for knife lovers looking for a small knife (OAL 5-1/2” and a slicy 2.2” blade) with a locking mechanism. The NERD fits easily in your pocket (maybe your “fifth” pocket) or even inside your waistband. The 3D contoured scales allow for a 4- finger hold, providing comfort and security. TRM visible hardware is always kept to a minimum to maintain our clean lines.
The blade shape evolved over months based on customer input. We always make sure our bevels are wide so that our full flat grind can be thin enough to be sharpened to a razor edge. TRM has earned a reputation for slicy knives right out of the box and the Nerd is no exception. The tip is strong for its use as a utility knife- cutting open boxes, cutting strings etc. We won’t call it “prying” if you use it occasionally to remove a staple.
