The Microtech Scarab (named after a beetle which is engraved on the pocket clip) is a double action (auto one touch deploy and retract) OTF knife that was patterned after the Ultratech, Microtech's original dual action OTF. What does that mean? they are built for tactically tough action!
The MT Scarab is a beefed up version of the Ultratech and has been sparse over the last few years until they introduced the Scarab Executive model earlier this year which features a smooth handle. Now Microtech is back with the QD (quick deployment) Scarab featuring grip tape inlays (think grip tape on a skateboard) for a killer look and feel in the hand.
A hugely popular automatic out the front knife among armed and special forces personnel, the Scarab boasts incredible power and toughness for field tactical situations. The MT Scarab is built on a 4.6" 6061 T6 aluminum frame with grip tape inserts that make handling this knife a pleasure. All hardware including a carbide tip glass breaker (skull crusher), dual action thumb slide for one handed operation and a pocket clip are bead blast finished.
Similar to the Navy Scarab models (out later this yr), the new 2014 Scarab features port holes on the rear by the pocket clip as well as the blade ejection port area. At just 4 ounces, the QD Scarab knife is a perfect EDC pocket companion for all types of knife lovers.
