To get your OKC Blackbird.
The SK-5 Blackbird Survival knife from Ontario Knives (OKC) is the brainchild of Paul Scheiter, owner of Hedgehog Leatherworks. This wilderness fixed blade is a great size for the outdoors which is to say it is big but not huge. The first thing you notice about the SK5 is the handle. It is made from very strong micarta canvas which also provides an excellent ergonomic grip. The handle is held together by 3 allen screws and according to Scheiter "this handle is designed to prevent hot spots on the palm of the hand."
The Ontario Knives Blackbird SK5 uses a 5" long 154CM stainless steel spear point blade which is adept in handling tough. The 154CM steel has great edge retention and durability and I got is razor sharp in a matter of minutes. The MOLLE compatible sheath has a single strap on the back and is of course designed by Scheiter as well. If you are looking for an outdoor fixed blade all I can say is you can't go wrong with the Ontario Blackbird SK-5. Specifications
