Microtech D.O.C. "Death On Contact" Knives For Sale

With the latest in production flipper knives, Like ZT, Microtech continues to innovate in the folding knife world and this Microtech D.O.C. doesn't disappoint considering it was the 2013 Blade Show Winner for “Most Innovative Design” AND “Collaboration of the Year”.

The Microtech DOC (death on contact) comes in a manual action flipper and an automatic version called the "Killswitch" which was slated to come out in late 2013 but has been pushed back to the first part of 2014.

The Microtech D.O.C. is a manual action assisted flipper knife that is the brain child of Anthony Marfione of Microtech Knives and Mick Strider of Strider Knives. The Microtech DOC stands for (death on contact) and represents an assisted tactical folder with a lot of attitude.

The Microtech DOC comes with a 3.75" spear point blade with unique bevel cuts that really catch the eye. The blade finishes consist of black, stonewashed, satin and bead blast. The blade steel is S30V (first runs were Elmax steel) for strength and superior edge retention. The blade is stamped with Microtech D.O.C., serial number and date of manufacture.

There is everything to like about this blade. It is a work of art and beveled perfectly. As you can see in the photo below it is very well made and razor sharp out of the box.

It features a thumb ridge, extended tang and oversize thumb studs in case you want to open the traditional way. The integrated flipper protrusion is the only way to go in my opinion as this assisted folder opens with the flick of a finger very nicely. Now it's no smooth ZT 0801 but it definitely opens with one flick.

The Microtech DOC blade is pretty wide once you get a look at it in person and the bevels look wicked in my opinion. It was somewhat difficult for me to open with the thumb studs  at first but after a few deploys it got smoother but Im a flipper guy so the oversized studs will never be used.

The Microtech Death on Contact knife handle measures 5.5" and is comprised of 6061-T6 anodized aluminum with Trac Tec inserts which are essentially "grip tape" on a skateboard for those of you who used to shred the half pipe like me back in the day :). The inserts have a rough feel making the knife very easy to handle which I like. It has an excellent feel in the hand and really gives you a lot of control. The anodized handles come in blue, green, tan, black and red.

The D.O.C. handle features a titanium sub lock for solid lockup when deployed. The end of the handle has an extended lanyard slot for your paracord and the pocket clip is a stainless tip up carry only. What's cool about the clip is it has A.Marfione and M.Strider etched for a custom look, however it is pretty bulky and sticks out which im a little surprised at. The hardware is all bead blast finished except for the all black Tactical version (T models) which comes in black as well.

Overall I love the Microtech DOC tactical folder and if is extremely solid. It is heavy in the hand with a weight of 7 ounces. The flipper action is great and the blade is centered perfectly. It is a little big for me personally to carry every day but it is definitely EDC worthy.

My biggest issue is the bulky pocket clip that sticks out to much. It is very wide and the clip gets into your palm when gripping the knife. All in all a job well done by Strider and Microtech minus that bulky clip.

I highly recommend the Microtech DOC flipper for those looking to upgrade their assisted tactical collection. I can't wait for the D.O.C. Killswitch to come out! Hurry already Microtech!
