Protech Knives are one of the top tactical side opening automatics on the market. Law enforcement, Emergency responders and Military personnel have been carrying Protech for years and for good reason.

The TR stands for Tactical Response and the 2 stands for blade shape (spear point) and for custom applications there will be a .## to indicate blade color, custom attributes or handle color/graphics. The Protech Tactical Response 2 is a mid sized side opening automatic with a super sharp 3" blade and a 4.5" lightweight (3 ounces) aluminum handle with flush mounted push button. It is perfect for all around EDC tasks and feels great in the hand while being appropriately sized for the pocket.

Blade

The Protech TR-2 blade is a 3" 154CM steel which has superior edge holding capabilities, just ask Ernest Emerson of Emerson Knives and Benchmade! Some of the  custom Limited Edition TR-2 models feature a damascus steel blade. Other finishes available are black, satin, stonewashed and bead blast.

Handles

Protech uses 6061 T6 aluminum handles for their tactical response knives. The TR-2 handles measure 4.5" long and with ergonomic curves, jimping and knurling to the end, the TR2 is a pleasure to handle with no fear of slipping. The pocket clip is tip up, right hand carry and comes in several finishes. It is easy enough to clip in and out and is not too bulky. 3 Torx screws hold it secure. There are several opinions on tip up or down carry but suffice to say that Protech got it right in my opinion.

There are many custom limited edition Protech TR2 knives on the market with various color handles. The P.K. (Peter Kellet) Splash anodized handle comes in a variety of colors as pictured below and is in limited numbered quantities. Also the Bruce Shaw designed custom sterling silver skull inlay that sits flush with the handle is an added custom piece to the TR knives. A very cool addition to an already killer automatic.

Opener

The recessed push button comes in several finishes including custom touches. If you have never owned or fired a Protech Automatic knife then you are in for a treat. They literally almost jump out of your hand, they fire so hard. It is impressive what Protech has done with their spring action. It should be noted that if you are not holding on tight the pretty knife could end up in the floor which has happened on many occasions. (Always use caution when operating automatic knives, they are not toys.)
