5 Affordable Fathers Day Knives Your Dad Will Love
Posted by Clayton on Sep 17th 2013
Good ol dad deserves a day to be honored and celebrated and what better way than to give him an EDC knife. After all he often gets neglected the rest of the year, right? Well maybe not but don't tell him that. So in honor of Fathers Day, here are some excellent flipper choices we felt would tickle his fancy.
Kershaw Leek
The Ken Onion designed Leek has been a best seller for Kershaw for many years now and it has recently gotten a slight uprade with its stonewash finish. The classic EDC knife features 3" wharncliffe blade with integrated flipper and SpeedSafe assisted technology for fast one handed opening. Reversible pocket clip offers a variety of carry options. Get the Leek in a host of colors. My personal favorites are stainless steel, black tactical and blackwash!
Kershaw Emerson CQC
You can't spell tactical knife without Ernest Emerson. The knife making icon has been pumping great folders for a long time and shows no signs of stopping. The only draw back? They are very expensive and not everyone can afford one. Well you can thank Kershaw for saving the day. They have teamed up with Ernie to produce a price conscious Emerson designed folder with his patented WAVE opening feature. My personal favorite pictured below.
The Kershaw CQC series just won "2014 Blade Show Best Buy of the Year" award. It offers not only an affordable option ($45-$65 MSRP) but a reliable Emerson designed folder produced by Kershaw. Your dad would kill to have one of these bad boys. The following models just arrived this week.
ESEE Zancudo
Survival knives are what ESEE is all about. Jungle training is in their blood so naturally when they came out with the Zancudo (spanish for mosquito) frame lock folder, survival knife lovers had to take notice. Perhaps the best thing about it is it's low price tag. A perfect EDC option at just 4" closed. At under $40 you really can't beat it and I must say it is worth every penny and then some. You dad would appreciate your economic style.
Kershaw Cryo II
The Cryo II is a Rick Hinderer designed spring assisted flipper that makes for an excellent EDC knife. The 3.25" blade comes in a variety of options and finishes including my personal favorite, the blackwash tanto edge. At 4.3" closed your dad would flip at the chance to own and carry this well designed flipper.
Benchmade HK Axis
The Benchmade HK Axis folder is a hot commodity in 2014. The Benchmade Axis locking mechanism which is ambidextrous and perfect for EDC use. The HK Axis handle is is black G-10 and measures 4.5" closed. It feels great in the hand and the 3.7" D2 steel black blade rolls out smooth via dual thumb studs. No flipper, but to be honest you don't need it, opens really nice.
