The Benchmade H&K Epidemic OTF automatic knife is a great addition to the Benchmade OTF lineup. The Epidemic to me feels and looks like a cross between a Benchmade Infidel and Microtech Ultratech but in a smaller version.
When you first see the knife you can't help but notice the stainless steel red Thumb slide which I don't care for (a little too flashy) but many love, personal preference I guess.
The black handle is made from 6061 T6 aluminum which has significant jimping and milling which give it great looks, handling and superb grip. The handle is just under 5 inches long and about a half inch thick, great for EDC.
The HK Epidemic blade is spearpoint made from D2 stainless steel and comes in black or satin with a standard edge. It measures right at 3.5" and fires excellent when the thumb slide is pressed and retracted. What I like most about this OTF knife is its styling on the handle. The HK Tumult is a bit plain for my taste but the Epidemic is very eye catching which I love.
The Epidemic has a reversible stainless tip down pocket clip with the HK logo for easy carry. It rides nice in the pocket although I tend to carry OTF knives in the pocket without the clip.
I personally love MT OTF knives and but I gotta say this Benchmade HK Epidemic is top notch and for under $200, to me it's a no brainer. We have them in stock so if you are looking for a great Out The front automatic knife you can't go wrong with this one.
