    Deployment concerns.

Posted by Jeffrey Maynard on Oct 1st 2024

So interestingly enough I just received my Heretic Wraith V4 in the mail today after having to send it back to Heretic knives for repair. The problem I encountered was exactly like described in Mr. Cullen’s review. It takes an excessive amount of pressure to on the button to deploy the blade and I’d say that in about 18 of 20 attempts the only thing that happened was a grinding noise when pressing on the button and the feeling that there was something preventing the blade from opening. The people at Heretic knives were very pleasant to work with and responded immediately to my questions. However I was very disappointed when I opened the box today and discovered that the original problem was still there and the knife remains inoperable for use as a left hand carry. But in order to be fair I will say the fit and finish of the Wraith is very high quality. The blade is extremely sharp and the grind even. It feels great in the hand and for all intents and purposes will probably make a great EDC for some people, just not me. A huge shout to eknives.com. They have always been great to deal with and customer service is top notch.

    Dissatisfied

This is my first Heretic so maybe I just got a bad one and I'd hope for the price they all don't function this way. This knife is quite difficult to open, the activation button is flush and when pressed it goes down about a 1/16 and then stops, you can feel and hear the metal on metal and in order to get it to deploy I have to change my grip and forcefully push with the tip of my thumb and with the strong spring and changed grip on the knife it's hard to keep ahold of the knife when it does finally open. It's not a enjoyable knife to open and i only open it a few times before ive had enough and put it away. As far as the glowing carbon fiber inlays there's nothing to exciting to say about those either, I wasn't expecting much there but you won't get a charge with it sitting out in a lit room, you'll literally have to hold it right under the light itself for a few minutes and then turn the lights off. It is cool though but to much effort there if you want to show it off to someone
