You get a lot for the money!
I’ll admit, I’m a latecomer to Microtech. I only started to add their blades to my collection within the last year or so. I’m used to the higher price tag based on the quality so I wasn’t sure how the MSI “budget” model would hold up. Let me tell you that it is awesome. Same great build, same great craftsmanship, great EDC carry. Keep in mind, this is a full size knife so it’s relatively big. However, it does not take up a lot of pocket space. It reminds me of a higher end Cold Steel knife in that respect. Also, keep you fingers away when closing the knife! I bought the full serrated and promptly nicked my finger when closed it. It’s scary sharp out of the box. Thanks for the band aid EKnives. Overall, I’m very happy with this blade.

Excellent, But...
My criteria for chosing this knife were simple, and mostly logical. It's logical selling points are many: * Boler M390 steel - Arguably the best there is (essentially the same as CMP 20CV, my favorite, thick and thin); * Full serrated edge - As they say, can always be counted on for "one more cut, no matter what"; * Durable Zytel frame/handle - All weather, all rugged, better for your wallet, and huge weight savings, solid win all around; * Oh, that Ram-Lock! - Benchmade's "Axis Lock" is one of the greatest contributions to the knife world in the past 20 years, and Microtech's take on it is a lot like Spyderco's; which is to say, it's just plain better; * American Made, baby - (Well, other than the blade steel being sourced from Germany) - When it comes to knives, we make the best in the world, and Microtech did not fall short of that benchmark. U.S.A.!! U.S.A.!! U.S.A.!! The less-rational selling points (i.e., the "sizzle" of the steak) will vary from person to person, but for me they were easy to sum up: * Microtech! - There's a certain elite... dare I say, knife-snob appeal to their products, and it's well-deserved in a good way. If you're packin' a Microtech, clearly you're a man who knows his steel (or woman... don't mean to be exclusionary); * Hat - I already bought a Microtech hat ... If I'm going to wear their talon logo on my head, it would be hypocritical of me not to buy another one of their knives. That's a valid reason, right? * It's #&¥£in' cool as $§∆% - Yeah. Don't have one? Cafeteria Rules: Step away from the Cool Kids' table! Overall I am VERY pleased with this knife. It hits all the sweet spots... Except one. If I had a minor complaint, it would be that the MSI is bigger than you might expect. You flip out that serrated blade, someone might think you're about to saw down a tree. It carries in the pocket okay, but still. If Microtech made an 85% scale version of this this knife in length, but keep the girth, it would be perfect. It would be, "Bugout who??"-good. If any reps from Microtech read this, seriously, consider an MSI 85.

QC Issues and there is definitely room to...
This does not reflect bad on Eknives whatsoever: I want to get that out of the way first thing. This knife came with the worst lock stick I have ever had on any knife I've ever owned or used. It took me pulling down on the lock bar with both hands for it to disengage and when it did, it sounded like a bolt breaking loose on a car. I sent the knife back to eknives and they were gracious enough to call me personally and talk with me after they received the return to ensure they did everything possible to make sure I was comfortable with the option I chose moving forward. I feel like it shouldn't have made it out of the factory like that but..I guess sometimes things happen, other than that the knife had great serrations, no marring or imperfections on the handle scales and is overall, very usable. I do think they need to work on the ergonomics some because it feels kind of goofy in hand, the best thing they could do with this knife that will make it even more popular and usable would be to make it a Mini. Do a version with around 7- 7-1/2" overall, make the forward choil bigger and you'll have a real EDC winner. Thank you Eknives for being the best retailer on the planet. P.S. go back to your old system where the catalog doesn't show all of the out of stock inventory, if you don't have it, don't show it and there is SO much. Thanks ??
