The Microtech Ultratech Gen III (1123-16MS1) is a high-end, limited-production out-the-front knife that combines cutting-edge engineering with artisan-level blade craftsmanship. Part of Microtech’s prestigious Signature Series, this model stands out for its rare Damascus construction and premium materials.

The 3.5-inch Tanto blade is forged using Baker Forge Coppermai Damascus, a striking composite steel known for its bold patterning and unique copper-infused layers. This Damascus construction typically features a high-performance core steel for cutting strength, with layered outer materials that create a visually stunning, one-of-a-kind blade pattern. The Tanto profile provides exceptional tip strength and piercing capability, making it both functional and visually aggressive.

Built on the Gen III Ultratech platform, this model features Microtech’s advanced OTF double-action mechanism for fast, reliable deployment and retraction. The contoured aluminum handle offers a lightweight yet durable design with excellent ergonomics for everyday carry. The Ultratech platform is widely recognized for its refined action and reduced internal wear thanks to its proprietary mechanism design.

    Functional...

I’m normally not one to go for the crazy fancy knives because of the price tag and guilt associated with using it. Especially because of the devaluation of knives once used. That said, this thing is just so gorgeous I don’t even WANT to put it through any rigors. Bakers Forge really locked down the CuMai manufacturing market, and for good reason. It’s a beautiful material and they execute the process perfectly. 10/10 recommend if only to fidget with and show off to people who will call you crazy for spending that much money on a knife.
