The Microtech Ultratech Gen III ZBP OTF Automatic Knife represents the evolution of one of the most iconic out-the-front knives ever made. Upgraded with Microtech’s advanced Zero Blade Play (ZBP) system, this Gen III Ultratech delivers enhanced stability, smoother operation, and rock-solid lockup for superior performance.

This model features a 3.5-inch tanto blade crafted from premium M390 steel, known for exceptional edge retention, corrosion resistance, and toughness. The apocalyptic stonewash finish gives the blade a rugged, battle-worn look while helping to conceal wear from hard use. The tanto blade shape provides reinforced tip strength, making it ideal for piercing and precision cutting tasks.

The lightweight yet durable aluminum handle is ergonomically designed for a secure grip and comfortable everyday carry. Precision machining and Microtech’s refined internal components ensure reliable, consistent deployment.

    Gen III...

Posted by Thomas F Baran on Mar 3rd 2025

I've got over a dozen Microtech knives, this is my first Gen III Ultratech. As usual, the workmanship is outstanding, its a well made piece. I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 for 2 reasons only. First, the new handle is too smooth, needs something in the design at least to assist with grip. Any type of serious use could cause this smooth one to easily slip the grip. The previous generation Utratech had ribbs, which helped grip it. And second, the upgraded deployment system doesn't feel that much different than the Gen II (I have several). In comparison, I have Gen III Scarabs and Gen III Combat Troodon, and both those models the difference is very noticeable, much easier than the earlier models. Knit-picking, tho, its still a great knife. As always, thanks to Eknives, the best customer service ever.

    Microtech Ultratech ZBP...

Posted by S. Smith on Feb 17th 2025

It's hard to perfect on a legend, but Microtech did just that. My 2nd gen Ultratech Tanto was/is one of my favorite knives for EDC. The size, feel, and look of it all made it an easy choice. The new improvements like the dual fuel power train, pocket clip, slightly larger size, tanto blade in apocalyptic finish, and the ZBP made me pull out my wallet yet again. AND I LOVE IT!!! EKnives is my go to dealer whenever I need my fix on a new knife.
