The newest Jason Brous creation to hit the market is another smooth as silk flipper called the VR-71. Jason's idea behind the VR-71 is to create a multi use knife equipped for fighting, survival and everyday carry. It is definitely a tactical everyday knife flipper that is made for hard use.

Blade

The VR-71 at first glance is more streamlined that many of the other Jason Brous flippers we have enjoyed. It comes with a 4" D2 hollow ground steel blade  with recessed cutout should you decide to forego the flipper. Of course the finishes are stonewash, black, satin and the acid stonewash.

The Integrated flipper is attached to the blade and the first thing you will find is the incredible detent on this blade. The action on the VR-71 is by far the best of the Brous Blades lineup and one of the fastest if not the fastest on the market courtesy of the Brous ball bearing pivot system.

Handle

The ergonomic contoured carbon fiber handle measures 5" long and houses stainless steel skeletonized liners for strength and weight reduction making it lighter than the T4 and mini Division flippers. The curved pocket clip is very cool and a little different on the VR-71 versus past Brous Blades. The black G-10 backspacer allows for superb grip in forward and reverse handling.

The jimping on the thumb ramp and spine are much more comfortable than previous, sharper models as Jim Skelton pointed out in his review which you can watch below.
