The word "Tachyon" is a derivative of the greek term "Tachus" meaning speedy. Tachyons are particles that travel faster than the speed of light. So the Microtech Tachyon Balisong comes by its name quite honestly.

The original Tachyon Butterfly knife was released in 2000 with much praise. Eager to improve on an already stellar balisong, Microtech released the Tachyon 2 in 2012. Never one to settle, the Tachyon 3 was engineered and released in 2015 and shows no signs of slowing down. The evolution of the Tachyon balisong line has impressed the masses.

Handles

Reengineered to perfection with aluminum handles from solid billet in a variety of colors and finishes. A solid nitride bearing system is ridiculously smooth for superior flipping action.

The Tachyon 3 handles have virtually no flex and blade play is non existent. The quality of craftsmanship and engineering is on display with this new and improved model.

Blade

The Elmax recurve stainless steel clip point blade is a thing of beauty with the standard Anthony Marfione fuller and comes in a variety of colors to impress. The length has been extended to give the knife more balance.

Tachyon Theme Knives

Microtech has produced some impressive theme knives over the past year. The Storm Trooper Tachyon 3 came out in 2016 and soon to follow have been the Incredible Hulk, Flash, Superman, Deadpool, Black Widow and Batman.

Marfione Custom Tachyon

There are some Marfione custom Tachyon 3 models produced along the way and they will come with titanium handles and polished blades. The high polished DLC Tachyon is quite the conversation piece and has the signature Marfione mirror polish in M390 steel.
