Ontario Knife Company - An American Tradition In Cutlery Since 1889

If you have been an avid knife enthusiast then Ontario knives is a name you have known for a long time. Why? because The Ontario Knife Company has been around since 1889 and proud to be AMERICAN MADE! It is rare these days to find a product in the United States that is actually produced here but this company is all about American pride and tradition.

History

It all started over a century ago when 3 men from Naples, NY decided to start Ontario Knives but contrary to popular belief it is not named after the Canadian city but rather the county of Ontario  in Naples, New York. Early on in the production process knife making involved a water powered grindstone and they were sold door to door.

In 1902 after the company began to grow they moved it to Franklinville, NY and officially incorporated the Ontario Knife Company name. After much growth and expansion Servotronics would purchase a now public trading Ontario Knife Company along with their sister company Queen Cutlery Company.

Queen Cutlery manufactures pocket knives for collectors while OKC specializes in fixed blade knives.

Military

OKC is very much involved in the United States Military and has been supplying quality cutlery products since WWI when they supplied machete's. Ontario Knife is not only proud to support and manufacture knives for the military, they are the sole manufacturer for the United States Marine Corps OKC3S Multi-purpose bayonet system.

Accolades

Field & Stream Magazine's "Best of the Best" is one of the most prestigious awards in the world of outdoor gear. Every year the narrow the newest products down to the best in certain categories, In 2011 they awarded Ontario Knife Company's Blackbird SK-5 as "best of the best" in the knife category. Survivalist Paul Scheiter is awarded for coming up with the design of the SK-5. He also owns Hedgehog Leather Works which is responsible for producing the leather sheath for the SK-5.
